(Author Note: these will be used to designate the different language – “English”, “Sindarin”, “Quenya”, “Westron” and “Goa’uld”)

“Enough already!” Jack grumbled while Janet reiterated the precautions the man needed to take in the future, particularly around the anniversary of the injury. The doctor had had a hard time understanding the nature of anniversary illnesses and had ended up just accepting what she was told by Elrond, via Mithrandir, and making a mental note to run a complete set of tests on the SG1 leader when they returned to the base.

“Healers all same,” Strider commented, grinning over at him from where he was readying his horse. His fluency in English had much improved but it was still broken, gifted as he was at languages even he couldn’t learn an entire language in only a few days.

Strider, Legolas and Mithrandir were going to accompany SG1 back to the Stargate and travel through it to meet with General Hammond with the view of establishing some form of diplomatic relations with the Tau’ri. While burying the Stargate was a viable option all of the people from Arda were adamant that it was not a permanent solution. That like all things used for evil it would return at the most inconvenient of times.

Jack returned the grin; he was beginning to like the complex man. He had been surprised to discover, as well as being a leader of men and a combat leader at that, that he was also the adopted son of an Elven Lord and as such a Lord in his own right. That revelation had only solidified the obvious respect that Teal’c had for the man.

“You would know, you have managed to annoy most of them on this planet,” Mithrandir put in from where he was with his own horse.

Mithrandir was still translating for them all. Legolas was picking up more English every day but the more complex words and ideas were still beyond the grasp of the elf and ranger. Just as the more complex words and ideas of Sindarin were to Daniel, the only one of SG1 really able to pick up the language in any form.

Chuckling they led their horses out into the courtyard to bid farewell to the Lord of Imladris and begin their trek to the Stargate, beginning one of the strangest adventures yet for Legolas and Aragorn.
